As per the IS (Indian Standard) and the IEC (International Electrotechnical Standard) the minimum Cantilever Load that a Pin Insulator should be able to withstand should not be less than 5kN (Kilo Newton). This supports and helps the transmission line to withstand large mechanical stresses caused due to high wind pressure. These insulators may not be necessarily bought as a set for three phase electricity transmission line. These are one of the most used insulators in electrical distribution lines to transmit voltages upto 33kV.
