Electric network in India operates under very harsh environments. Industrial pollution, marshy land, hilly and unfriendly terrain, extreme weather, coastal region etc. make insulator contamination flashovers the main concern to the electric utility. Variety of solutions were tried to combat the insulator pollution flashover. Initially ceramic insulators were in use and then the glass insulators were put to use, but these did not serve the flashover issue. The introduction of Composite Insulators(Polymer Insulators) OR Silicone Insulators was a turning point in the 1970s.
These silicone rubber insulators / composite insulators were popular for their pollution resistance and were useful ever in sever / harsh weather conditions. The composite insulators have distinctively hydrophobic surface and are resistant to chemical influence, weathering, UV radiation. The physiochemical and mechanical properties of these rubber composite insulators remain constant over wide temperature range. Hence there are negligible changes in the properties of polymer insulation and no electrical or mechanical failures are experienced.
Composite insulators we offer can be custom specified, manufactured, tested and are reliable for their service life. They are ideal for use in HVAC, HVDC and in most HV application.
